Abstract

In an era marked by rising intolerance, identity-based conflicts, and polarization, the need for ethical and spiritual frameworks that foster mutual respect and peaceful coexistence has become increasingly urgent. This article explores the role of the Seerah—the life and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)—as a dynamic source of guidance for promoting tolerance, pluralism, and intercultural harmony in multicultural societies, with a specific focus on Pakistan. Drawing upon primary Islamic sources and contemporary scholarly interpretations, the study demonstrates how the Prophet’s conduct in Medina, his covenants with non-Muslim communities, and his emphasis on justice, compassion, and dialogue provide a robust model for managing diversity. The article argues that integrating Seerah-based values into national education, public discourse, and policy formulation can significantly contribute to social cohesion in Pakistan’s pluralistic context. By reorienting societal narratives toward the ethical exemplar of the Prophet, Pakistan can cultivate a culture of tolerance that aligns with both Islamic principles and modern democratic ideals.
