A Critical Analysis of the Divine Commands and the Points of Disagreement among Scholars in Sheikh Gauhar Rehman’s Audio Tafsir (RA), with Reference to Surah Aal-e-Imran (Verses 31–70)

Abstract

This research analyzes Surah Aal-e-Imran's verses 31 to 91 in light of Sheikh Gauhar Rehman's Tafsir. These verses detail divine commands, the concept of God's love, the following of the Prophet ,ﷺand the principles of Islamic law. The research clarifies that the true measure of love for God is in following the Prophet,ﷺ and that the principles of the Islamic state, economic system, and even jihad should align with the Prophet’s ﷺ teachings.

Moreover, three key points of disagreement among scholars are highlighted: First, love for the Prophet ﷺ is not proven by mere external celebrations but through practical adherence to his ways. Second, the elevated status of women in worship and service to the religion. Third, the manifestation of miracles by non-prophets, with an example being the heavenly provision of food to Maryam (AS)

This study also sheds light on moral and spiritual training, emphasizing purity, the importance of prayers, and the miracles of Allah's saints. In the light of Islamic teachings, the research addresses social life, spirituality, and contemporary societal issues.
